About Rosie

Hello!! Thank you for visiting! I’m so grateful that you are here.

I am a White, Irish decent, queer, non-binary social worker (LICSW) committed to collective liberation and relational healing in community. I work from an anti-oppressive, queerifying lens and firmly believe that we heal in community and relationship. I believe transformation happens when we can build enough safety to be curious and listen more deeply to the wisdom of our bodies.

I've been working in community and international mental health for about 10 years. I’ve primarily worked with immigrant and refugee youth and families, but also worked with system involved folks (foster care, prison industrial complex and immigration detention), international development and private practice at Interconnections Healing Center. I am an EMDR therapist and have a strong background in working with folks with war trauma, complex PTSD and Bipolar. Over the past 5 years, I've also built a deep politicized somatic practice both within myself and with clients that has become an integral part of my own identity and my healing work.

As someone who has working in international and US based immigrant and refugee mental health since 2013, I’ve developed a deep commitment to organizing around anti-racist, building embodied white anti-racist community and building networks of community to support collective liberation and healing. All of this is integral to the way I move as a coach, therapist and supervisor as well. As we move into possible relationships with each other, its important for me to be honest with you about the fact that we are all on this healing and unlearning journey together. What I offer in these relationships is my own experience and reflections, whether that is in the form of my educational training, a few additional reps of practice or simply a regulated body to hold space.

Populations I work with:

  • Activists, organizers and healers

  • Immigrant and refugee populations

  • Queer and trans populations

  • Survivors of war, trafficking, torture

  • System involved folks (foster care, incarceration)

Experience

I have been working/learning internationally since I was 18 years old doing HIV education in Sikkim, India. That started a long history of I have working in mental health and psychosocial support both internationally and in the US including stints in Cambodia, Thailand, Sierra Leone, Tanzania. Within the US, I have worked in programs providing mental health services to international foster youth, undocumented youth and families, and international survivors of trafficking. I also worked for some time in a community mental health program for folks who were at risk of incarceration or formerly incarcerated.

In recent years, I’m been deepening my work with activists, healers and mental health professionals with a focus on those who are white and working in antiracism and those who are living under the current conditions of queerness and the constrictions that brings. In addition, I’ve been taking on more consultation, education and training roles around dynamics of power and privilege, white body supremacy, social justice in mental health, and community care in organizing spaces.
